Queensland MP Brittany Lauga Alleges Drugging and Sexual Assault in Yeppoon
Queensland Labor MP Brittany Lauga has come forward with disturbing allegations of being drugged and sexually assaulted during a night out in Yeppoon, located in her constituency of Keppel, Queensland.
In a social media statement, Lauga revealed that she immediately contacted Yeppoon Police in the early hours of Sunday after suspecting foul play.
Medical tests conducted at Yeppoon Hospital confirmed the presence of unknown substances in Lauga’s body, indicating that she had been unknowingly drugged.
Expressing her shock and dismay, Lauga shared that the effects of the substance had a significant impact on her well-being.
She also disclosed that she had been approached by several other women who had shared similar experiences in the town, highlighting a concerning trend.
Condemning the incident, Lauga emphasized the need for a safer social environment where people can socialize without fear of such assaults.
Confirming the ongoing investigation, Premier Steven Miles assured that the government is providing unwavering support to Lauga during this distressing time.
Queensland Housing Minister Meaghan Scanlon echoed similar sentiments, describing the situation as alarming and emphasizing the importance of ensuring Lauga’s well-being.
