Seattle Mariners Detroit Tigers Alds Game 3

DETROIT — Game 3 of the American League Division Series (ALDS) between the Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers has been delayed due to rain. The Tigers announced the postponement just under an hour before the scheduled start time of 1:08 p.m. Pacific.

The rain at Comerica Park required that the infield be covered with a tarp. MLB Network insider Jon Morosi reported that while the rain had slowed by 12:14 p.m., the field conditions prompted the delay.

“Less than 1 hour to scheduled first pitch. Tarp is on — but the rain has slowed considerably,” Morosi tweeted.

The Mariners have struggled with weather delays during the regular season, posting a 1-6 record in delayed games. Their challenges included games impacted by rain at the home fields of the Chicago White Sox, Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles, and a special Little League Classic in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, against the New York Mets. In August, the team faced three weather delays over five days during a single road trip.

Seattle evened the best-of-five ALDS at one victory apiece with a win on Sunday night in Seattle. Further updates regarding the new start time of Game 3 will be provided as they become available.
