South Central Pennsylvania Weather Forecast

LANCASTER, Pa. — South-central Pennsylvania will experience a warm day near 80 degrees on Tuesday, followed by anticipated rain as a cold front approaches from the west. Showers are expected to begin in western areas late in the day and move east overnight into early Wednesday.

Conditions have been dry and warm across the Susquehanna Valley for the past couple of weeks, leading to a growing need for rainfall. Meteorologists predict an increase in shower chances after sunset on Tuesday, particularly from west to east.

The best chance for passing showers and possible thunderstorms will occur tomorrow night, lasting into Wednesday morning’s commute. By lunchtime on Wednesday, the rain should exit the valley, leaving behind a breezy and cooler afternoon with temperatures dropping.

Current weather conditions show mostly clear skies and mild temperatures around 64 degrees in Lebanon and 72 degrees in Harrisburg. The full moon today will provide good viewing conditions tonight as skies remain mostly clear.

As moisture increases throughout the day, humidity is expected to rise, with daytime highs reaching close to 80 degrees before the rain begins. Forecasters warn that rain chances will ramp up around 8:00 p.m., with the most potent shower activity arriving late tonight.

The expected rainfall totals are between 0.50 to 1.00 inches, with isolated areas possibly receiving more. As the cold front passes, clouds will clear and temperatures will cool off, with highs around 70 degrees by Wednesday afternoon. Winds will be breezy, at 10 to 20 mph from the northwest.
