Rain Forecast for South Central Pennsylvania This Weekend

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania — A storm system is expected to bring periods of rain to South Central Pennsylvania tonight and throughout Friday.
Low pressure moving into the Susquehanna Valley will lead to widespread rain, with overnight lows dropping to the low 50s. Forecasters predict that rainfall could accumulate between 0.50 inches to 1.50 inches by the end of Friday.
Rainfall will likely be heavy during the morning commute tomorrow, with temperatures hovering in the low to mid 50s. Friday afternoon is expected to see cooler temperatures, only reaching near 60 degrees. Areas could remain in the 50s due to cloud cover and lingering showers.
“Periods of on-and-off rain will continue through the night and into Friday,” said a spokesman from the National Weather Service. “While heavy rain is possible at times, widespread flooding is not expected, but minor nuisance flooding could occur in low-lying areas.”
As the storm system moves out to sea on Friday, rain should taper to scattered showers from west to east. By Saturday, high pressure is expected to settle over the region, bringing mostly sunny skies and highs around 72 degrees.
Mother’s Day on Sunday looks very pleasant, with temperatures reaching the mid-70s. Forecasters also anticipate cooler temperatures in the upper 70s for Monday, before rain chances return early next week.
“Get ready for a nice day on Mother’s Day after the rain moves out,” the forecast suggests, adding that temperatures will warm significantly through the coming week.
