Rain to Hit Philadelphia Region Monday, Clears by Afternoon

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Rain is expected to sweep through the Philadelphia region on Monday, with conditions improving by early afternoon, according to meteorologist Andrew Kozak from CBS News.
As of 6:37 a.m. EDT on Monday, temperatures hovered around 41 degrees with overcast skies and rain likely to persist for several hours. Residents can anticipate high temperatures of 55 degrees during the day, dropping back to 41 degrees at night. The humidity is relatively high at 88%, making it feel colder than the actual temperature.
“Get ready for rain this morning which will taper off as we head towards the afternoon,” Kozak stated. “While this might not be ideal for everyone, we are expecting some nice weather later in the week.”
Looking ahead, Wednesday promises to be particularly pleasant with an expected high of 70 degrees, thanks to early sunshine before clouds roll in later in the day. The coastal areas will see slightly lower temperatures, maxing out in the mid-50s.
The forecast indicates another chance of rain arriving with the start of spring on Thursday, when a cold front is predicted to bring fluctuating temperatures. The rainfall is expected to begin Thursday evening and could last into the overnight hours. “It looks to just be a band of rain showers, so there’s no immediate threat of severe weather,” Kozak noted.
This shift in weather will mark the official onset of spring at 5:01 a.m. EDT, as the sun aligns directly over the equator, signaling roughly equal day and night worldwide.
Following the Thursday evening rain, Friday will bring a drop in temperatures, with highs reaching only the mid-50s under breezy conditions. Weekend weather forecast looks dry, with temperatures ranging from the high 50s to low 60s before another system moves in the following Monday.
The upcoming week is expected to remain dynamic, with rain on Monday and partly sunny conditions on Tuesday. The forecast looks ahead to daily highs averaging in the low 60s.
