Weather Forecast Rain Storms

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — As the week comes to a close, residents can expect scattered showers and thunderstorms due to an approaching cold front. Temperatures on Thursday are forecast to range from the 70s to near 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

According to local meteorologists, rainfall will intensify by late afternoon and into the night on Thursday, with the potential for isolated severe storms. The primary threats include damaging wind gusts and spotty hail.

While general rain amounts are expected to be between a quarter to half an inch, this cold front will continue to bring additional showers and storms into Friday. Gradual clearing is anticipated later in the day as the front moves away from the area.

Looking ahead to Mother's Day weekend, conditions are trending toward dry and pleasant weather, with highs projected in the low to mid-70s on Saturday and mid to upper 70s on Sunday. Meteorologists predict that the chances of rain are low for Sunday.

However, early next week, another slow-moving storm system may affect the Mid-Atlantic region, increasing the chances for rain and scattered thunderstorms.
