Rainy Sunday Set to Clear, Cool Weather Ahead

BOSTON, Mass. — Residents in Boston are waking up to light rain this Sunday morning, but conditions are expected to improve as the day progresses. By midday, the showers will taper off, allowing for drier weather and occasional sunshine later in the afternoon.
Temperatures will rise to the upper 50s, making for a warmer day compared to recent weeks. While early risers might need to carry an umbrella, they should be able to leave it behind as the sun emerges.
Looking ahead to Monday, a front will advance toward the region, bringing increased precipitation. Boston is forecasted to experience steady rain, but higher elevations to the north might see a wintry mix. Accumulations will remain light, with dusting to 2 inches possible in some areas.
“It won’t be a heavy snowfall, but a bit of mixed precipitation is expected, particularly at higher altitudes,” said Shiri Spear, a meteorologist from Boston 25 News.
Monday afternoon promises a brief reprieve from the rain, but temperatures will drop into the low 40s, resulting in a cool finish to the day. By Tuesday, an upper-level weather system will bring additional cool temperatures in the 40s, coupled with a chance for spotty rain or snow showers.
“It’s essential to stay prepared for both rain and chilly conditions,” Spear added. “Tuesday might feel unsettled but won’t be a total washout.”
On a positive note, clear skies are anticipated for Wednesday, with forecasters predicting mostly sunny weather and highs in the mid-40s—an encouraging shift from the recent cloudy and rainy days.
As the week progresses, meteorologists are also monitoring the potential for more rain arriving next weekend. Residents are encouraged to stay updated on the forecast as the weekend approaches.
