Rajkummar and Shraddha Celebrate Delhi Memories
Despite the heavy rain, Rajkummar Rao, the star of Stree 2, made a memorable visit to the Hindustan Times office in New Delhi. He was there to meet the enthusiastic winners of the HT City Stars In The City contest. The moment he walked in, fans cheered, calling out, ‘We love you, Vicky!’. It was a lively gathering that later saw his co-star Shraddha Kapoor joining him for an engaging chat with Sonal Kalra, Chief Managing Editor of Entertainment and Lifestyle.
Rajkummar shared fond memories of Delhi, stating, ‘This is my home, I was born and brought up here.’ He reminisced about his days at Mandi House and his college experiences in South campus before moving away in 2005. Even today, his family continues to live in Gurugram, making each visit a special occasion filled with food and the warmth of dilliwallahs.
Shraddha also expressed her deep connections to the city, revealing, ‘Delhi has been a big part of my childhood.’ She highlighted the joy of spending time with her family in Karol Bagh, enjoying delicious food that still resonates with her today.
When discussing Stree 2, Rajkummar explained, ‘We took six years to come out with a sequel because we wanted to build a universe and tell a true story.’ This commitment to quality is what drives them, rather than just banking on the previous film’s success.
On the topic of acting careers, Rajkummar noted that there’s no set pathway to success. Although studying at FTII boosted his confidence, he acknowledged many talented actors, like Konkona Sensharma and Kangana Ranaut, who succeeded without formal education. ‘You learn on the job,’ he said.
Shraddha shared her gratitude towards her fans, stating, ‘I feel so lucky to receive so much love. It’s humbling to hear from fans of all ages, especially those who see me as a big sister.’
Both actors opened up about their personal beliefs too. Shraddha, a romantic at heart, believes in fairytale love and looks forward to marriage someday. Rajkummar, on the other hand, mentioned, ‘Marriage is beautiful. I’m so happy to be married,’ emphasizing the importance of friendship in their relationship.
Talking about food, they both chuckled over their favorites. For Shraddha, it’s a tough choice between aaloo ka parantha and pooran poli, but she never misses chhole bhature whenever she’s in Delhi. Rajkummar echoed her sentiment about the joy of food, saying, ‘It is life and happiness.’
Touching on their career journeys, Rajkummar mentioned the evolving landscape of cinema, saying, ‘Today’s audience notices the effort we put in.’ This sentiment resonated with Shraddha, who felt proud of the growth they’ve experienced over 14 years in the industry and how they’ve become more selective in the roles they choose.
Both stars concluded with a glimpse into their creative sides, as Shraddha shared her passion for music. With notes and voice recordings, she expressed a desire to explore music further, hinting at exciting plans ahead.
