Rajmata Madhavi Raje Scindia, the mother of Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, passed away on Wednesday. She breathed her last at 09:28 am after battling illnesses, being under ventilator care at AIIMS Hospital in Delhi for the past two months. Her demise marks a significant loss for the Scindia family and the people of Gwalior.

The late Madhavi Raje Scindia, hailing from the prestigious royal family of Gwalior, was married to Maharaja Madhavrao Scindia II. Her lineage can be traced back to the aristocratic families of Nepal, with her father being an Army General of Madhesh Province and her great-great-grandfather holding significant positions in the history of Nepal.

Madhavi Raje Scindia was extensively involved in charitable activities, overseeing 24 trusts dedicated to education and medical care. She also took charge as the chief of the board of governors at the Scindias Kanya Vidyalaya, an institution for girls’ education. Additionally, she curated the Maharaja Madhavrao Scindia II gallery at the palace museum, furthering the legacy of the royal family.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary expressed their heartfelt condolences on the passing of Rajmata Madhavi Raje Scindia. They highlighted her contributions to society and extended their support to Jyotiraditya Scindia and his family during this difficult time.

The last rites of Madhavi Raje Scindia will be conducted in Gwalior, the historic city closely linked to the Scindia family’s roots, further commemorating her significant presence within the region.
