Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine Arrested in New York for Alleged Violation of Supervised Release
Daniel Hernandez, known professionally as the rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, has been taken into custody again due to an alleged violation of his supervised release. The arrest occurred in New York City, and Hernandez is scheduled to appear in federal court on Tuesday.
The specific details of the violation have not been disclosed. Hernandez was initially released from prison in 2020 and placed on supervised release following his 2018 arrest on charges of racketeering and conspiracy to commit murder. He pleaded guilty to these charges and testified against members of his former gang, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods.
This is not the first time Hernandez has faced legal issues recently. In January, he was arrested in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on domestic violence charges after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, Dominican rapper Yailin la Más Viral.
Hernandez gained international fame in late 2017 with the release of his debut single “Gummo.” His subsequent arrest in 2018 led to a significant legal battle, where he faced the possibility of more than 30 years in prison. However, he struck a plea deal that included testifying against other gang members, which contributed to the guilty pleas of several co-defendants.
