Rapper Yfn Lucci Pleads Guilty To Gang Charge

Rapper YFN Lucci, whose real name is Rayshawn Bennett, has pleaded guilty to a gang-related charge after reaching a deal with prosecutors. This comes almost three years after he was arrested in Atlanta as a result of a wide-ranging indictment aimed at alleged members of the Bloods gang. The charges against him stemmed from his involvement as the driver in a gang-related drive-by shooting that led to the death of a man.

As part of the plea deal, Bennett’s lawyers have revealed that prosecutors dropped 12 out of the 13 charges against him. He pleaded guilty to a single count of violating the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. Bennett’s defense attorneys, Drew Findling, Gabe Banks, and Marissa Goldberg, shared in an emailed statement that after three years of litigation and waiting for a jury trial, the prosecution dismissed the murder and RICO charges against their client. They also emphasized that Bennett will not cooperate in any other case as he has maintained for the past three years.

The plea deal will make Bennett eligible for parole in as soon as four months from now. Prosecutors have agreed that he should be released early on parole to allow him to reunite with his children, family, and resume his career.

Fani Willis’ office, the Fulton County District Attorney, has not provided an immediate comment regarding the plea deal.

YFN Lucci rose to fame with his hit song ‘Key to the Streets’ featuring the acclaimed Atlanta rap group, Migos.
