A resident of Windsor Avenue in St John’s, James Ryder, has reported the theft of his rare Alfa Romeo Stelvio, taken from his driveway in the early hours of Saturday morning, September 28. The incident has left Ryder and his family, particularly his nine-year-old daughter, deeply shaken and anxious. Ryder expressed his distress, stating, “I bought myself this brand new Alfa Romeo which is quite a rare car and was in a rare spec. I was really pleased with the car, I have worked so hard for it, and it was my dream to have one.”
The stolen vehicle is a bright red Alfa Romeo with a distinctive number plate, XX04 SJT, which has not only brought personal distress to Ryder but also caused logistical issues, as it was used by his wife for her daily commute. “It’s devastating. The thought someone has been onto your property and taken something is really concerning,” Ryder remarked, adding that the theft has left his daughter terrified to sleep at night.
CCTV footage from Ryder’s home confirms the car was on the driveway as late as 2:10 am, with suspicions that the theft occurred between 2:30 am and 3:30 am. Ryder believes the car was stolen using a keyless vehicle theft method, which involves the use of radar devices to unlock vehicles.
West Mercia Police, who were alerted to the incident the following morning, have confirmed that they are actively investigating the theft. A spokesperson for the police department stated, “At around 8:20 am on Saturday we received a report that a car had been stolen overnight from a property on Windsor Avenue. Enquiries are ongoing.”
Members of the community with any information regarding this incident are urged to contact the police on 101, quoting log number 102 of September 28, to assist in the search for the missing car.
