Real Sociedad Osasuna Derby Match

PAMPLONA, Spain — The rivalry between Osasuna and Real Sociedad heated up Saturday as fans flocked to Pamplona for one of the most exciting derbies in Spanish football. The atmosphere began early in the morning as supporters from both sides filled the streets, celebrating their teams.

About 600 Real Sociedad fans secured tickets for the visiting section, but over 1,000 are expected to be present throughout the stadium. The Plaza del Castillo and the Casco Viejo displayed a vibrant mix of red and blue colors, buoyed by sunny weather that offered a break from the anticipated nighttime chill.

Real Sociedad, seeking crucial points as they enter the final stretch of LaLiga before Christmas, arrived at their hotel around noon. They face Osasuna, a team that has struggled recently and is desperate for home victories.

Coach Sergio Francisco‘s squad comes into the match with several key injuries, including players Zubeldia, Óskarsson, Yangel, Karrikaburu, Goti, and Rupérez. In a tactical shift, Valverde introduced three new players into the lineup — Caleta-Car, Aihen, and Zakharyan — marking his 14th different starting eleven in 14 official matches this season.

Real Sociedad’s lineup features Remiro in goal; defenders Aramburu, Jon Martín, Caleta-Car, and Aihen; midfielders Gorotxategi, Carlos Soler, and Brais; along with forwards Guedes, Oyarzabal, and Zakharyan. The match promises to deliver intense rivalry and spirited competition.
