Recall Alert: Ford Issues Safety Notices for 556,000 Vehicles

Detroit, MI – Ford Motor Company has announced a recall that could increase the risk of crashes and injuries. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) confirmed that the recall affects 556,043 vehicles from model years 2016, 2017, and 2025.
Among the vehicles involved are 63,898 2025 Ford Maverick models, which may have an airbag indicator light that can become loose or dislodged. This situation could leave passengers unaware if the airbag is on or off, thereby elevating the risk of injury in case of an accident. Owners of the recalled Maverick models are encouraged to visit a Ford dealer to have new airbag indicator light retaining clips installed at no cost.
The recall also includes 492,145 Ford Explorers from 2016 to 2017. A defect in the B-pillar door trim, which covers the frame between the front and backseat windows, may cause the trim to detach while driving. This could create debris hazards on the road, putting drivers at risk.
Ford is still working on a remedy for the Explorer models. Owner notification letters for both recalls are expected to be mailed on June 9, 2025. A second round of letters will follow once remedies become available. Vehicle owners can contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 with recall numbers 25C17 and 25S53. For additional information, owners can check the status of their vehicles through the Ford website.
