Pork Product Recall Metal Contamination

CINCINNATI, Ohio — A public health alert and nationwide recall were announced Saturday for a pork product sold at a popular grocery chain after it was found to possibly contain metal fragments. The United States Department of Agriculture‘s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) initiated the recall following a routine process check.

The recall affects 16-ounce sleeved tray packages labeled as ‘Pork Carnitas SEASONS & SEARED PORK WITH JUICES SLOW COOKED WITH CITRUS’ bearing ‘USE BY’ dates of June 30, 2025, and July 1, 2025. These packages have the establishment number ‘Est. 46049’ printed on the USDA mark of inspection.

According to the FSIS, a broken machine used during the processing of the product may have led to the contamination risk. Despite the recall, no injuries have been reported as of the announcement date. The product is no longer available for sale, but consumers are urged to check their refrigerators and freezers for any remaining packages.

The FSIS recommends that consumers discard the affected product or return it to the place of purchase for a refund. “Food safety is a top priority and we take such matters very seriously,” stated an FSIS official. “We encourage customers who may have purchased this product to take caution.”

Consumers with questions or concerns regarding the recall can visit the FSIS website or contact their local health department for additional guidance. The FSIS continues to investigate the matter to ensure food safety standards are upheld across the industry.
