Record Cold Snap Hits Southeast U.S., Freeze Watch Issued
A powerful cold front swept through the southeastern United States on Monday, January 6, 2025, bringing record-low temperatures and freezing conditions to the region. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Mobile, Alabama, warned of plummeting temperatures, with wind chills making it feel like the 30s during the day and actual temperatures dropping into the 20s overnight.
In Northwest Florida, temperatures struggled to reach 40 degrees Fahrenheit on Monday, with wind chill factors making it feel even colder. The NWS forecasted three consecutive nights of freezing temperatures, with some areas experiencing sub-freezing conditions for more than eight hours overnight.
