Red Bridge Fire Cle Elum

CLE ELUM, Wash. — A wildfire known as the Red Bridge Fire has prompted level 3 evacuations for residents near Cle Elum as it threatens multiple structures. The fire, which was reported to be 200 acres as of 5 p.m. on June 9, 2025, quickly spread in the area, a report from the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) stated.

Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office deputies have evacuated all homes in the immediate vicinity of Red Bridge Road and all structures north and east to the Teanaway River.

Firefighting operations are now under the command of the U.S. Forest Service. As of 8 p.m., at least two structures had been confirmed destroyed, and the total number of losses remains uncertain as mop-up operations continue. Residents who have lost homes have been contacted and provided assistance.

For those needing shelter, the Centennial Center in Cle Elum is available. Chief Deputy Darren Higashiyama can be reached at 509-201-6013 for further assistance.

The DNR is using both aerial and ground resources to combat the fire, which was initially reported as 50 acres but later increased as firefighting efforts began. Authorities are also urging the public to steer clear of the area to allow emergency traffic.

State fire assistance has been mobilized, and specialists ordered three strike teams to support local firefighters. The setup occurs amid a weather alert, with high temperatures causing more dire conditions across Washington, including Red Flag and Heat Advisories.

The fire’s progress is being monitored closely, and residents are advised to follow evacuation orders promptly. This remains an ongoing situation.
