In a move that underscores The Los Angeles Times‘ ongoing commitment to Latino journalism, a prominent journalist has been named as a new staff writer and assistant editor for Los Angeles Times en Español. The announcement was made today, October 7, 2024, as part of the publication’s efforts to reinforce its presence in the Spanish-speaking community.

The journalist brings with them extensive experience in entertainment reporting, having contributed to various esteemed publications. Prior to this appointment, they wrote for all print editions of HOY Los Ángeles and served as a contributor for the newspaper La Opinión.

The journalist’s career began at the daily newspaper El Comercio in Lima, where they worked as a writer before rising to the position of editor for the “Visto & Bueno” entertainment supplement. During their tenure at El Comercio, they also gained recognition for their film critiques.

This strategic hiring not only aims to strengthen The Los Angeles Times’ editorial team but also highlights their ongoing dedication to diversifying content and reaching a broader audience through bilingual journalism. The newspaper’s Spanish-language content has been crucial in addressing the need for more inclusive news coverage in Southern California’s diverse communities.
