Results Emerging from Edo State Governorship Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced the announcement of results from the recently held 2024 Edo State governorship elections. The ongoing updates are being provided as the national electoral body releases them in real-time.

In Igueben Local Government Area (LGA), the number of registered voters stood at 54,549. Out of these, 15,274 were accredited. The All Progressives Congress (APC) garnered 5,907 votes, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) scored 8,470, and the Labour Party (LP) received 494 votes. The total valid votes recorded were 14,989, with 278 votes rejected, out of a total of 15,267 cast.

Esan West LGA reported 113,067 registered voters, with 25,702 accredited. APC achieved 12,952 votes, PDP 11,004, and LP 342 votes. Total valid votes amounted to 24,691, with 693 rejected out of 25,384 total votes cast.

In Uhunmwonde LGA, registered voters numbered 92,169, and 20,044 were accredited. APC received 8,776 votes, PDP 9,339, and LP 769. Total valid votes were 19,223, with 553 rejected votes, making the total cast 19,776.

Owan West LGA had 67,076 registered voters, with 24,311 accredited. APC secured 12,277 votes, PDP 11,284, and LP 201. Valid votes were counted at 23,904, with 391 rejected among 24,295 votes cast in total.

In Ovia North-East LGA, there were 177,106 registered voters and 32,441 accredited. APC obtained 13,225 votes, PDP 15,311, and LP 1,675 votes. Total valid votes stood at 30,783, with 1,312 rejected out of 32,095 cast.

Esan South-East LGA recorded 90,240 registered voters with 23,390 accredited. APC earned 8,398 votes, PDP 14,199, and LP 98, resulting in 22,780 valid votes. There were 356 rejected votes, with a total cast of 23,136.

In Egor LGA, of the 242,266 registered voters, 35,463 were accredited. APC led with 16,760 votes, PDP with 14,658, and LP with 1,966. The total for valid votes was 34,022, while 1,018 votes were rejected, resulting in 35,040 total votes cast.

Akoko Edo LGA saw 144,379 registered voters and 54,395 accredited. APC achieved 34,847 votes, PDP 15,865, and LP 2,239 votes. Valid votes totaled 53,547, with a rejection of 331 votes, leading to a total of 53,878 cast.

Esan Central LGA, with 68,338 registered voters and 20,580 accredited, saw APC win 10,990 votes, PDP 8,618, and LP 418, making up 20,198 valid votes. A total of 361 votes were rejected from the 20,559 cast.

Esan North-East had 106,280 registered voters, with 24,430 accredited. APC received 10,648 votes, PDP 12,522, and LP 194, resulting in 23,637 valid votes and 674 rejected, with a total of 24,311 cast.

Finally, Ovia South-West LGA reported 112,091 registered voters and 23,196 accredited, with APC accruing 10,150 votes, PDP 10,260, and LP 849 votes. The sum of valid votes was 21,710, rejected votes numbered 1,086, leaving a total of 22,796 votes cast.

The announcement of results continues, with more details expected to be released by the electoral commission.
