Rialto High School Lockdown After Threat; Student Detained

RIALTO, Calif. — Rialto High School was placed under lockdown on Monday afternoon due to an alleged threat of violence, prompting a swift response from local police.
The lockdown was announced by the Rialto Unified School District in a social media post at 1:58 p.m. School Principal Dr. Caroline Sweeney informed families about the situation.
Police received a call at 12:44 p.m. reporting that someone was threatening violence at the school with potential weapons and explosives. Multiple armed officers were seen searching the campus in response.
After a thorough search, authorities declared an all-clear and students were released to their parents and guardians. Rialto police confirmed that no shots were fired, and no weapons or explosives were discovered on the premises.
During the evacuation, two minor injuries were reported. One student suffered an asthma attack, while another fell.
Authorities have detained a student identified as a person of interest concerning the threats. An update from the school district around 3 p.m. indicated that students were reunited with their families at 2:45 p.m.
