Richard Gere Zurich Film Festival 2024

Actor Richard Gere and his wife, Alejandra Silva, attended the 20th Zurich Film Festival on October 8, 2024, marking a special appearance for the premiere of “Wisdom of Happiness.” Gere, a Golden Globe winner, age 75, has taken on the role of executive producer for the film, which highlights the insights of the Dalai Lama and is co-directed by Swiss filmmakers Barbara Miller and Philip Delaquis.

The couple walked the green carpet at the Corso cinema in Zurich, Switzerland, making a striking impression in formal attire. Gere donned a classic black suit paired with a white collared shirt and complemented the ensemble with a black bow tie. Silva wore an intricate cream and silver gown, designed by Spanish designer Teresa Helbig, featuring a layered and sophisticated silhouette.

“Wisdom of Happiness” offers a cinematic experience that aims to instill compassion and provide solace from the stress of modern life, according to a synopsis shared by the Zurich Film Festival. The film features profound messages from the Dalai Lama, urging the 21st century to embrace compassion.

Gere and Silva, who married in 2018, are no strangers to the film festival circuit. Just last month, they attended the 81st Venice International Film Festival, where Gere was recognized at the amfAR Gala with the Award of Inspiration. Known for their public displays of affection, the couple captivated photographers and attendees with their chemistry.

Beyond his recent appearances, Gere also reflected on the legacy of his iconic film “Pretty Woman” during a masterclass at the Venice Film Festival. He humorously acknowledged having “no chemistry” with his co-star Julia Roberts at the time, although the film went on to achieve massive success, grossing $463.4 million worldwide.

In personal news, Gere and Silva continue to nurture their family life. They share two children, Alexander and James, and are part of a blended family that includes Gere’s son Homer from a previous marriage, as well as Silva’s son Albert from a former relationship.
