Richard Gere Celebrates First Father’s Day in Spain with Family

MADRID, Spain — Actor Richard Gere celebrated his first official Spanish Father’s Day on March 19, 2025, alongside his family in their new home. His wife, Alejandra Silva, marked the occasion by sharing a series of intimate family photos on Instagram, highlighting the joyful moments they enjoyed at the beach with their three younger sons.
The couple, who moved to Madrid last November after residing in the United States, captured picturesque scenes of their family spending time together. In one photo, Gere, age 75, is seen interacting with his sons Alexander, 6, James, 4, and Silva’s son from a previous marriage, Albert, 11. Silva captioned the post, “Happy 1st Spanish Father’s Day to the best dad of the world! We love you!!!”
In another photo shared on her Instagram Story, Silva showcased the drawings made by her younger children to celebrate Gere’s special day, further symbolizing the love and affection within their family unit. “Happy Father’s Day!” Silva included in the post, showcasing the children’s creativity.
Richard Gere, who also has a 24-year-old son, Homer, from his former marriage to Carey Lowell, has embraced fatherhood with enthusiasm. In previous interviews, Silva described him as “a very devoted and present father,” noting that he enjoys reading stories to their children. “He doesn’t cook. I do it, but when I cook, he plays the guitar,” she added, illustrating a harmonious family dynamic.
The decision to move back to Spain was driven not only by personal wishes but also humanitarian commitments. In a January interview, Silva mentioned their involvement with the nonprofit organization Hogar Sí, aimed at tackling homelessness in Spain. “The only reason why both Richard and I are here in Madrid is to be part of the board of the NGO Hogar Sí. We want to help this country to end homelessness,” she explained.
Both Gere and Silva are enjoying their new life in Madrid, cherishing the opportunity to immerse themselves in Silva’s culture while raising their children. Gere mentioned in an interview, “We are happier than ever. [Alejandra], because she is at home, and I because if she is happy, I am happy.”
Silva’s heartfelt tributes to Gere underscore their strong partnership. The couple, married since 2018, often reflects on their connection, describing it as deep and meaningful. “We see the world in the same way and from the first moment we felt like we have known each other for a long time,” Silva added.
As the Gere-Silva family continues to settle into their lives in Spain, they are also forging memories through travel, having recently vacationed in locations such as the Maldives and Mexico. These experiences not only enhance their family bond but also enrich their appreciation of their new home.
