Robert Irwin Dancing With Witney Carson

Los Angeles, CA – Robert Irwin, son of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin, is competing in the finale of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ this week. As he prepares to dance against popular contestants like Alix Earle and Dylan Efron, Irwin shared how he keeps his father’s spirit alive during his performances.

In an interview published on November 25, actor Russell Crowe recalled how Steve would have approached the competition. “Although Steve could read the rhythms of the seasons and every living creature, he was absolutely not gifted with a sense of musical rhythm,” Crowe joked. He believes that Steve would have cheered for Robert, who has earned a perfect score this season.

“I think he would watch Robert dancing and how he uses his body, the strength and poise, and he would be in awe of his son,” Crowe added.

Robert has stayed connected to his father’s legacy throughout the competition. In a recent Instagram post, he revealed that he dances in his father’s old shirt, stating, “It keeps me close to home, it keeps me close to him. It just feels like a big hug every time I put it on.”

Beyond wearing his dad’s shirt, Robert teamed up with his sister, Bindi Irwin, who won the Mirrorball trophy in season 21, to honor their father. Their bond appears strong, strengthened by shared memories of their father and Russell’s stories about him.

As the finale approaches, Irwin and his professional partner, Witney Carson, are facing their share of struggles. In a video shared on social media, Carson noted, “We’re kind of falling apart right now.” She revealed that Robert is dealing with painful rib injuries that have made rehearsals challenging.

Despite the injuries, Irwin and Carson are committed to putting in the work. “Last night we stayed until the studio closed down,” Carson said, emphasizing their dedication. “We’re gonna have absolutely no regrets by the end of this.”

Reflecting on their final rehearsal, Robert expressed his gratitude, stating, “Thanks for the best memories, Witney. I will cherish this experience forever. One last night to dance—see you tomorrow, America.”

As Irwin prepares for the finale, he is not alone in his struggles. Fellow contestant Alix Earle has also faced challenges, sharing that she has bruises and even lost a toenail during practice.
