Robert Saleh, the former head coach of the New York Jets, has issued a heartfelt statement expressing his gratitude toward the team following his dismissal. Saleh’s departure was announced after the team’s 2-3 start to the current season. During his tenure at the club, Saleh amassed a record of 20-36 without leading the team to any playoff appearances.

In his statement, which was obtained by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport, Saleh thanked the Jets organization for the opportunity to lead the team over the past three years. He expressed appreciation for the team’s players, coaches, staff, and fans, describing his experience with the organization as a privilege.

“To the Jets Organization, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with so many incredible people,” Saleh noted, appreciating the support he received during his tenure. “To all of the players, I truly love and appreciate every single one of you… Through all the ups and downs, each and every one of you showed up every day and attacked every moment.”

Saleh’s statement also conveyed his best wishes for his colleagues. “To my fellow coaches and staff, it has been an honor to work with all of you. Every one of you were ‘all in’ and made sacrifices for one another that will never be forgotten. I wish you all the very best of luck for the remainder of the season,” he said.

Saleh also acknowledged the support of the Jets’ passionate fan base, thanking them for embracing his family and creating unforgettable memories. He signed off with his personal motto, “All Gas No Brake!!!”

In the immediate aftermath of Saleh’s departure, the team’s defensive coordinator, Jeff Ulbrich, has assumed the position of interim head coach. Ulbrich will lead the team as they prepare to face the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.

Aaron Rodgers, the Jets’ quarterback, addressed the situation publicly for the first time since the announcement. Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers dismissed any allegations of his involvement in the decision to fire Saleh. “As far as any of the ridiculous allegations out there, I’m not going to spend more than one sentence in response to it, and that is I resent any of those accusations because they’re patently false,” Rodgers stated.

Rodgers, who joined the Jets in part due to Saleh, described the coach as a personal friend and acknowledged the challenges that come with the profession. He also mentioned a call from Jets owner Woody Johnson the night before Saleh’s firing, clarifying that it was unrelated to coaching decisions and was merely to check on his wellbeing after an injury.

“Woody has no obligation to let me know what his plans are,” Rodgers said. “I just appreciate the call that he was checking on me. It was like a friend call,” Rodgers continued, reflecting on the emotional impact of the news and his concern for Saleh’s family.
