Roki Sasaki Dodgers Pitcher Postseason Performance

Los Angeles, CA – Roki Sasaki made Major League Baseball history by becoming the first Japan-born pitcher to throw three no-hit innings as a reliever in the postseason during Game 3 against the Milwaukee Brewers on October 17, 2025.

Despite facing a shoulder injury earlier this season, the young pitcher stepped onto the mound and delivered a powerful performance, allowing no hits or runs. His achievement eclipsed previous milestones, including those set by fellow Japanese player Shohei Ohtani.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts faced a tough choice by pulling Tyler Glasnow and Emmet Sheehan to place confidence in Sasaki with the game on the line in the eighth inning. The rookie rose to the occasion, striking out two batters and recording five more out without allowing a score.

Sasaki’s journey to the majors has not been easy. After struggling with a shoulder issue that sidelined him for most of September, he returned to the league as a starter in the minor leagues before transitioning to a reliever role in the Dodgers’ bullpen, where he has thrived.

Since his return, Sasaki has showcased remarkable velocity, hitting up to 100 mph on his fastball. His splitter has proven to be particularly effective, used in 11 key pitches, establishing him as a formidable player in high-pressure situations.

In an interview with SportsNet LA, Sasaki shared his appreciation for the support he received during his recovery. “I’m very grateful to all the staff and the organization. I feel healthy and ready to contribute,” he said.

As the Dodgers move closer to the World Series, Sasaki’s pivotal role as a closer appears solidified. If he maintains his current performance level, he could emerge as a key figure in the postseason and a significant icon for Japanese baseball in the United States.
