Roma Hellas Verona Serie A Match

ROME, Italy — AS Roma defeated Hellas Verona 2-0 on Sunday at the Stadio Olimpico in a key Serie A matchup. Under coach Gian Piero Gasperini, Roma aimed to continue their strong start to the season following a 2-1 win over Nice in the Europa League.

The match began energetically, with Artem Dovbyk scoring the opening goal with a header in the 7th minute, assisted by a cross from Celik. Dovbyk’s goal marked his first of the season, signaling a positive return for the Ukrainian forward.

Despite several opportunities for Verona, including a shot by Gift Orban that hit the crossbar, Roma maintained their defensive strength. Goalkeeper Mile Svilar made crucial saves to ensure a clean sheet, building on Roma’s record of having conceded only one goal in their first four Serie A matches.

The second goal came in the 79th minute, when Dovbyk set up Mateo Soulé, allowing him to extend the lead with a well-placed shot. This goal effectively sealed the match for Roma.

Notably, the match also featured heated moments, including a controversial non-card incident involving Verona’s Akpa Akpro, who received criticism for a foul on Lorenzo Pellegrini but avoided a second yellow card.

With this victory, Roma sits at the top of the Serie A standings, eyeing the possibility of solidifying their position as a title contender this season.
