Ronnie O'Sullivan, a prominent figure in the world of snooker, has announced that he will be absent from competitive play for the remainder of October. This decision comes as he prepares for an extensive schedule in November, which includes participation in the International Championship, the Champion of Champions, and the UK Championship.

O’Sullivan, often referred to as “The Rocket,” has been open about his ongoing relationship with the sport. Speaking with the BBC, he discussed the challenges and joys of his career. “We all have moments where we hate what we do,” he remarked, adding, “Then a few weeks later, you wake up and you go, ‘Actually, I really love this’. That’s normal for everybody. There are so many options I can take.”

The snooker veteran is slated to begin his November competitions with a first-round match against Mink Nutcharut, a former women’s world champion, at the International Championship in Nanjing. Following this, he will compete at the Champion of Champions in Bolton, where he aims to secure a fifth victory at the prestigious event. He will then attempt to extend his record with a ninth win at the UK Championship held at York’s Barbican Centre.

Reflecting on recent performances, O’Sullivan expressed dissatisfaction with his loss to world No. 63 He Guoqiang in the last 64 of the English Open in Brentwood. Despite this setback, he had a promising start to the season, reaching the semi-finals in the Shanghai Masters and Xi’an Grand Prix, as well as the quarter-finals at the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters.

Meanwhile, the Wuhan Open is set to commence, featuring Judd Trump as the defending champion. Trump’s campaign begins against Polish newcomer Antoni Kowalski. Notably, both Mark Allen and David Gilbert, like O’Sullivan, have opted to skip the event. The Wuhan Open will be broadcast live on Eurosport, providing fans with access to top-tier snooker action.
