Rookie Wide Receiver Returns After Concussion Recovery
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — A rookie wide receiver for the New York Giants is set to make his return to the field after suffering a concussion during a game two weeks ago. The player, who experienced memory loss about the incident, referred to the situation as “scary.” Footage showed him unconscious during the play.
The injury occurred on October 3, when the wide receiver fell hard on the turf in an attempt to catch a pass from quarterback. “It was scary when I couldn’t remember what happened,” he stated, recalling only the pass being thrown to him.
After experiencing headaches, he went through the NFL‘s concussion protocol, which he cleared on Thursday, two weeks post-injury. However, during a limited practice on Friday, a groin issue emerged, which is linked to a previous college injury, but the Giants have downplayed its significance.
Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll remarked that the player experienced some groin “tightness” during practice, prompting precautionary measures. The wide receiver, free of any injury designation for the upcoming weekend, is expected to participate as planned.
Additionally, running back is also returning from a groin injury, whereas defensive tackle and outside linebacker are labeled as questionable due to hip and groin ailments, respectively. Both expressed their intention to play.
The wide receiver’s return is marked by his attendance at a Travis Scott concert, which drew criticism on social media. The player had informed the Giants prior to attending. He addressed the criticism, stating, “I’m going to always be myself. At the end of the day, I still got my own life.”
He further commented on speculation concerning concert conditions potentially affecting his concussion symptoms. “I didn’t face anything with the lights,” he explained regarding the event environment. “Having problems with the sound, I told them no.”
His priority remained on regaining fitness and returning, rather than the negative performance of the team, which has managed only one touchdown in a recent loss. “My health is really the most important thing,” he emphasized.
