With 20 decks and a length of nearly 1,200 feet, the cruise ship promises something for everyone, according to Jay Schneider, Royal Caribbean’s Chief Product Innovation Officer. The ship boasts over 40 restaurants and bars, including 23 brand new ones, as well as 15 new water experiences and exciting shows. Schneider proudly calls it the best family vacation in the world.
The Icon of the Seas features 8 themed neighborhoods, each offering a unique experience. The Aquadome, an all-glass venue, provides breathtaking views, while Central Park is an ideal spot for drinks, music, and food. Thrill Island boasts the largest water park at sea, and Crown’s Edge offers a daring opportunity to dangle in suspension over the ocean 155 feet above the water.
Designed specifically for young families, Surfside is a neighborhood that includes the exclusive Ultimate Family Townhouse. This impressive three-story suite includes a slide connecting the top two floors and direct access to Surfside. It also features a private game room and a movie room, ensuring endless entertainment for families.
With a capacity to accommodate up to 7,500 guests and 2,400 crew members, the Icon of the Seas will have a significant impact on the local economy. Mychal Milian, a Professor of Lodging at FIU, highlights the importance of Miami’s status as the cruise capital of the world, with 7.3 million cruisers welcomed last year. The arrival of Icon of the Seas will bring in thousands more visitors each week, benefiting the city’s hotels, restaurants, and stores.
Icon of the Seas will embark on its maiden voyage on January 27th, featuring itineraries that include both the eastern and western Caribbean. The cruise ship will be based at Port Miami throughout the year, further solidifying Miami’s position as a premier destination for cruise vacations.
