Rumored Returns of Nova Corps Characters in Upcoming Series

Nova Corps Marvel Cinematic Universe

Rumors have emerged suggesting the return of key Nova Corps members for an upcoming Disney+ series centered around “Nova.” According to the entertainment leaker MyTimeToShineH, actors John C. Reilly and Glenn Close are expected to reprise their roles as Rhomann Dey and Nova Prime Irani Rael, respectively. These characters were last seen in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” film.

The Nova Corps, introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), were believed to have been destroyed by Thanos in the events leading to “Avengers: Infinity War.” The details surrounding their fate remain unclear, as Thanos was shown to have acquired the Power Stone, which the Corps had been guarding. This ambiguity has led to speculation about whether the rumored appearances will be in flashbacks or if the characters somehow survived the attack.

Marvel Studios had announced plans to include Nova in the MCU back in 2022. Since then, there has been uncertainty regarding the format of the project, whether it would be a cinematic release or a streaming series. Marvel has shifted its strategy, focusing on promoting fewer projects publicly at once, as demonstrated at the San Diego Comic-Con panel earlier this year, which spotlighted only a select list of upcoming films.

The prospect of Reilly and Close’s return has stirred mixed reactions among fans. Some, like user JStormtrooper, speculate on the timeline of the series, wondering, “I assume this is a prequel series to Infinity War since Thanos decimated Xandar, unless both characters somehow survived him grabbing the Power Stone.” Another fan, TheJackOfDiamonds, praised the potential return, stating, “Thank god. Imagine having THE Glenn Close in the MCU and not using her.”

As is common with early rumors, Marvel has yet to confirm any details about the involvement of these actors or the direction of the “Nova” series. For the time being, fans will need to remain patient for official announcements.
