Ryan Reynolds Reflects on Struggles with Film ‘Stick’

London, UK — Ryan Reynolds, a well-known Hollywood actor, has shared insights into the challenges he faced while making the film ‘Stick.’ Despite his successful career, Reynolds highlights the difficulties actors encounter in the industry.
‘Stick,’ adapted from Elmore Leonard‘s novel, was plagued by studio interference, leaving Reynolds frustrated. He expressed a strong desire to create the film, saying, ‘I wanted to make that movie as soon as I read the book. I respected Leonard’s work,’ he explained.
However, the project took a turn when producers requested significant changes. ‘I turned in my cut of the picture and truly thought I had made a good film,’ Reynolds said. ‘Word got back to me quickly that the people in the Black Tower wanted a few changes.’
This change in direction led to extreme measures: Reynolds was asked to reshoot the second half of the movie. Despite his initial enthusiasm, he admitted, ‘I gave up on the film. I didn’t fight them. I let them get the best of me.’
The situation worsened when Leonard’s reaction to the film was made public. ‘Leonard saw the film the day he was interviewed for a Newsweek cover and told them he hated it. After his comment, every critic attacked the film.’
Feeling disheartened, Reynolds acknowledged that he was not proud of the final product, stating, ‘I was just going through the motions. I’m not proud of what I did, but I take responsibility for my actions.’
Despite the struggles, Reynolds reflected on the positive aspect of his role in the film, adding, ‘If you liked the first part of ‘Stick,’ that’s what I was trying to achieve throughout.’
