Sabally Bounces Back in Game 2 for Mercury Victory

Brooklyn, New York — After a challenging Game 1, Satou Sabally led the Phoenix Mercury to a decisive victory over the New York Liberty in Game 2 of their WNBA playoff series. The game took place Wednesday evening at Barclays Center, where the Mercury secured an 86-60 win.
In Game 1, Sabally struggled significantly, finishing with a dismal 2-for-17 shooting record. She missed all nine shots attempted in the second half and overtime, contributing to Phoenix’s 76-69 loss on their home court. However, she quickly turned things around just two days later.
In Game 2, Sabally became a key player, scoring 15 points on 5-for-11 shooting and hitting 2-for-4 from beyond the arc. Her impressive performance included seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals, demonstrating her all-around abilities. “Whenever [I] fail, I’m really good at looking at it objectively and learning from that,” Sabally said after the game.
Sabally’s physical prowess has earned her the nickname “unicorn” in basketball circles, thanks to her 6-foot-4 frame, ballhandling skills, and athleticism. Her talent was evident as she matched up against defending champions, showcasing elite mental strength.
Before the playoffs, Sabally analyzed her Game 1 performance. “I replayed every shot…a lot of them were great,” she noted. After a reflective practice session, she focused on visualizing success rather than dwelling on her previous failures.
Teammate Kia Nurse expressed unwavering confidence in Sabally’s ability to recover from a poor outing. “We have the utmost confidence in her,” Nurse remarked. The Mercury are looking forward to Game 3 on Friday night in Phoenix, where the stakes are high—the winner will advance to the semifinals against the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx.
“You have to believe in yourself,” Sabally said as she prepared for the decisive match. The Mercury will need her to repeat her Game 2 performance if they hope to continue in the playoffs. “This is fun, this is a game.”
