Sackets Harbor Mayor Declares Emergency Amid Federal Investigation

SACKETS HARBOR, New York (WWNY) – Mayor Alex Morgia of Sackets Harbor announced plans to declare a state of emergency in response to a scheduled rally this Saturday, spurred by a federal investigation at a local dairy farm. This decision comes after federal agents reportedly arrested a man on child pornography charges at North Harbor Dairy Farm.
The warrant, issued on March 25, allowed law enforcement to search the property and seize two iPhones and two passports belonging to the arrested individual. The investigation, part of a broader operation, revealed the presence of seven individuals labeled as illegal aliens at the farm.
Among those apprehended were a mother and her three children, who attended the Sackets Harbor Central School. Investigators are currently assessing whether these children might be witnesses or victims in the ongoing case, complicating the community’s response.
“If the family is not returned home by Saturday, a rally is planned to voice our concerns,” Morgia stated. “We aim to ensure peace during this gathering and facilitate the presence of local law enforcement to guarantee everyone’s safety.” The rally will begin at 2 p.m., with participants marching from the Sackets Harbor Visitor Center to the home of Tom Homan, President Trump’s former border czar.
State Assemblyman Scott Gray (R-116th District) confirmed that the detained family had been navigating the immigration process appropriately and did not have an existing deportation order against them. “It’s vital we address this issue not just to resolve the current situation but to enhance future preparedness,” Gray noted.
The family remains in a detention facility in Texas while local officials and community members rally for their support and safe return.
