SAN JOSE, Calif. — Salesforce announced Wednesday that Robin Washington, a seasoned finance executive and current board member, will take on the roles of president, chief financial officer, and chief operating officer, effective March. She will replace outgoing CFO Amy Weaver and COO Brian Millham, both of whom are set to retire in May.

Washington, 62, has served as Salesforce’s lead independent director since 2022 and has been on the company’s board since 2013. She brings extensive experience from her previous roles, including CFO at Gilead Sciences and Hyperion, as well as a vice president position at PeopleSoft. She also worked as an auditor at Deloitte earlier in her career.

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff praised Washington’s leadership in a statement, calling her a “visionary leader” whose expertise will guide the company into its “Agentforce era.” Salesforce has been heavily investing in artificial intelligence tools to automate sales and customer service processes.

Washington’s appointment comes as Salesforce continues to expand its adjusted operating margin, a goal achieved earlier than planned under Weaver’s leadership. The company faced pressure from activist investors in recent years, leading to a focus on profitability.

Shares of Salesforce dipped nearly 2% in extended trading following the announcement. The company’s stock has been closely watched as it navigates leadership transitions and competitive pressures in the enterprise software market.

Millham, who joined Salesforce shortly after its founding in 1999, has held various leadership roles, including president of commercial sales and co-president. He will retire after a 25-year tenure with the company. Weaver, who has been CFO since 2021, will step down once the transition is complete.

Arnold Donald, former CEO of Carnival Corporation and a Salesforce board member since 2023, will assume the role of lead independent director following Washington’s transition to her new executive position.
