Sanderson Farms Championship Golf Mississippi

JACKSON, Mississippi — The Sanderson Farms Championship is underway at The Country Club of Jackson, marking its 12th consecutive year at this venue. The event, part of the FedExCup Fall series, features a 132-player field competing on the par-72 course, which stretches 7,461 yards.

Kevin Yu, this year’s champion, is back, entering the tournament with odds of +2500. Yu achieved fame last year as a first-time winner, clinching the title in a playoff against Beau Hossler and matching a tournament scoring record at 23-under par. His impressive performance included a standout putting game, netting 27 birdies during the event.

This year’s competition promises excitement as Yu aims to become the first player to win the Sanderson Farms Championship more than once at this venue. In the past, five of the eleven past winners won on their first visit, yet the last four champions did not secure victory on debut.

Among the top contenders this year are Taylor Montgomery at +10000 and Miguel Angel Jimenez at +80000, with a mix of experienced golfers and rising talents sharing the field. The Country Club of Jackson has proven to be one of the most challenging courses, and in 2024, it had the third-hardest fairways on tour.

Luke List, last year’s champion, and 2015 winner Peter Malnati are both in contention. List has recorded a notable streak of finishes, while Malnati continues to strive for a strong performance to break his recent pattern of near-misses.

Other notable players include Mackenzie Hughes, a previous champion who has maintained a scoring average of 68.67 over his last 18 rounds. His performance remains dependent on his ability to maintain consistency during this tournament.

Cameron Champ, the 2018 champion, also returns. After winning on his first attempt, he continues to make an impact, although his performance dropped in the following years. He aims to improve upon his past finishes.

The tournament opened with a strong scoring average historically, making it one of the least difficult courses on tour. Golf fans anticipate an exciting week as the skilled players navigate the challenging course.
