Grace Gerenser Santa Barbara Down Syndrome Fashion Show

In Santa Barbara, 17-year-old Grace Gerenser is gearing up for a significant event that combines her passion for the arts with her advocacy for Down syndrome awareness. Grace will be participating in the Global Down Syndrome Foundation’s 16th annual Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show, scheduled to take place on November 16 in Denver, Colorado.

The Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show is the largest Down syndrome fundraiser in the world and has raised over $28 million to support life-saving research and medical care. Grace, a junior at San Marcos High School, is not only a model for the event but also an active member of her community, engaging in theater, arts, and community service. She serves on the school’s Associated Student Body board as the Commissioner of Celebration, where she is responsible for poster-making for sporting events and recognizing teacher-nominated students for their achievements.

Grace’s involvement in the fashion show is driven by her love of the arts and her commitment to advocating for individuals with Down syndrome. Along with her mother, Tammy Gerenser, Grace will travel to Denver prepared with an outfit and a runway walk, aiming to convey the message of self-expression and empowerment. “Be yourself and express yourself in many other ways” is the core message Grace hopes to share through her participation.

Grace’s community involvement extends beyond the fashion show. She and her mother are active in the National Charity League, participating in various events such as bouquet making, zoo cleanups, and preparing international relief packages. Her dedication to advocacy and community service makes her a standout figure in Santa Barbara.
