Scattered Rain and Potential Storms Forecast for Columbus Today

Columbus, Ohio — Rain and scattered storms are expected today, with temperatures climbing to around 70 degrees, according to the latest weather report.
A band of storms developed in Northeastern Ohio, causing damp roads across much of Central Ohio this morning. Morning temperatures started in the mid-50s, and occasional rain showers are expected to continue throughout the morning and midday.
As the day progresses, the midday showers will move into Eastern and Northeastern Ohio, becoming more intense with scattered downpours and the possibility of severe thunderstorms. Meteorologists have indicated a marginal risk for severe weather, including large hail, gusty winds, and an isolated tornado; however, the overall chance for severe storms remains low.
Winds from the southwest are expected at 10-15 mph this afternoon, aiding in the rise to a high of about 70 degrees. As nighttime falls, temperatures will dip into the lower 50s, along with the chance of scattered showers.
Looking ahead, Thursday will bring cooler temperatures with cloudy skies and light rain, with highs only reaching around 58 degrees. Friday may see a lingering shower, but drying conditions are anticipated, starting with morning temperatures around 45 degrees and warming to 61 degrees by midday.
Most of the weekend is expected to be dry, with Saturday partly cloudy and a high around 67 degrees. Sunday is likely to be mostly cloudy, with a high of 68 degrees. A disturbance could bring some rain to Southern Ohio, but current models show varying predictions for rain’s impact.
As Memorial Day approaches on Monday, the holiday weekend will remain cool, with highs in the upper 60s. Meteorologists are also keeping an eye on the weather for Tuesday, foreseeing a return of rain.
