Scattered Storms Expected in Omaha This Sunday

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Scattered storms are anticipated in the Omaha area on Sunday afternoon and evening, with the potential for isolated severe weather.
Meteorologist Sean Everson reported that storms could begin forming after 2 p.m. The weather is expected to remain warm and muggy, with temperatures potentially reaching the upper 80s to near 90 degrees. The heat combined with increasing cloud cover may lead to the development of strong thunderstorms.
While the severe weather risk is considered low, there is still a chance for stronger storms with wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour, quarter-sized hail, and heavy rain. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a marginal risk for most of eastern Nebraska and parts of western Iowa.
Everson advised residents to stay weather aware if they have outdoor plans later in the day. The storms are likely to develop toward the evening and could linger into the nighttime hours. Showers and thunderstorms are predicted to move eastward as the day progresses, possibly affecting areas such as Norfolk, Columbus, and Lincoln.
By Monday, the weather is expected to clear up, with a mild start in the lower 60s and more sunshine throughout the day. Temperatures should remain in the mid-80s, with another round of storms anticipated Tuesday night into Wednesday as a strong cold front approaches the region.
The forecast signals relief from the summer heat by the end of the week, with highs expected to drop to the mid-70s and humidity gradually decreasing after the storms pass.
