Scott Eastwood Opens Up About Father Clint’s Resilience After Partner’s Death
MONTEREY, Calif. — Scott Eastwood, son of legendary actor and director Clint Eastwood, shared an update on his father’s well-being six months after the death of Clint’s longtime partner, Christina Sandera. Sandera, who was Clint’s partner for 10 years, died of a heart attack in July 2024.
“He’s good. He’s doing good,” Scott, 38, told PEOPLE in a recent interview. “He’s a survivor, a trouper.” The younger Eastwood reflected on his father’s resilience, noting that the 94-year-old Hollywood icon has faced significant challenges throughout his life. “He was born coming out of the Great Depression, and then he was young during World War II. He saw a lot of struggle,” Scott said.
Clint Eastwood released a statement following Sandera’s death, describing her as “a lovely, caring woman” and expressing how much he would miss her. Scott emphasized that his father’s ability to persevere is ingrained in their family. “It’s in our blood. You don’t complain. You don’t whine. You just do,” he said.
Scott, who first gained recognition in the 2015 romantic drama *The Longest Ride*, credited his father for inspiring his career in the entertainment industry. “He’s the reason I’m in this industry. It’s like anybody. If your dad’s a carpenter, maybe you’d become a carpenter,” he explained. Growing up in Monterey, Calif., Scott spent much of his childhood on movie sets, where his father was often working. He later appeared in small roles in Clint’s films, including *Gran Torino* and *Flags of Our Fathers*.
While Scott did not reveal whether he has plans to collaborate with his father again, he expressed admiration for Clint’s enduring influence. “Anytime I’ve ever gotten a chance to work with my father, it’s been a great experience,” he said. “He’s an inspiration.”
In his latest project, the action-thriller *Alarum*, Scott stars alongside Sylvester Stallone, whom he described as a “badass.” Reflecting on working with Stallone, Scott said, “What I like about guys like Stallone is they’ve got this iconography behind them so the audience can really immediately believe who they are because they have all this history.”
When asked if he had crossed paths with Stallone earlier in his life, Scott admitted his memory was hazy. “I think I did. I don’t really remember. I think I met him in passing. Maybe!” he said with a laugh.
*Alarum* is set to hit theaters, digital platforms, and on-demand services on Friday, Jan. 17, 2025. For more on Scott Eastwood, readers can pick up the latest issue of PEOPLE.
