Scottish Woman Sues Netflix For Defamation Over Baby Reindeer Portrayal

A Scottish woman, Fiona Harvey, has filed a lawsuit against Netflix for defamation, seeking $170 million in damages over her portrayal in the hit series, Baby Reindeer. The lawsuit was filed in the US District Court for the Central District of California.

Harvey claims she is depicted as the character Martha in the series, played by actor Jessica Gunning. She alleges the portrayal has led to harassment from people worldwide and seeks damages for the distress caused.

The character Martha is said to be inspired by Richard Gadd, the writer and actor behind the show. Gadd, who plays a fictional version of himself as Donny Dunn in the series, has been involved in the controversy surrounding Harvey’s claims.

Piers Morgan has also been part of the narrative, interviewing UK lawyer Laura Wray, who made allegations against Harvey, adding another layer of complexity to the situation.
