Seahawks Waive Cornerback Derion Kendrick After Roster Shakeup
Seattle, WA – The Seattle Seahawks have waived cornerback Derion Kendrick, opening a roster spot after a surprising move on November 25, 2025. Kendrick, who recorded two interceptions earlier in the season, became the latest player to leave the team.
After Tory Horton was placed on injured reserve, the Seahawks did not fill his slot, leaving them with two empty spots on their active 53-man roster. Kendrick’s departure came after a series of injuries at the cornerback position, prompting his increased playing time when Devon Witherspoon was sidelined.
Kendrick played a total of 99 snaps in games against the Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints earlier in the season. He made an impact with two interceptions and five passes defensed during those matches. However, his role diminished as he only saw five defensive snaps in the last six games and was healthy scratched against the Washington Commanders.
With injuries to other players, Nehemiah Pritchett has stepped in, further limiting Kendrick’s playtime. The team’s top three cornerback roles have been filled by Josh Jobe, Devon Witherspoon, and Riq Woolen, who have all performed strongly recently.
Despite his release, Kendrick may still return to the team if he clears waivers and is placed on the practice squad. The Seahawks will provide updates after their practice ahead of the upcoming game against the Minnesota Vikings.
