Sean Diddy Combs Bail Hearing

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been denied bail for the third time by Judge Arun Subramanian, as the music mogul awaits his trial on sex trafficking charges. The decision was made on Wednesday after both federal prosecutors and Combs’ attorneys submitted their final arguments in writing regarding his bail request.

Prosecutors argued that Combs’ actions while in jail, including attempts to influence witnesses and a social media campaign organized by his children to shape the jury pool, constitute obstruction of justice. They also highlighted a 2016 video showing Combs attacking his then-girlfriend and protégé Cassie Ventura, which they claimed demonstrates the danger he poses to women if released on bail.

Combs’ defense team countered that his conduct was protected under free speech, aimed at combating what they described as “outrageous claims” made by government agents, plaintiffs’ attorneys, and others with questionable motives. The defense proposed that Combs be placed on home confinement in a three-bedroom apartment on Manhattan‘s Upper East Side with 24/7 security guards and strict restrictions on visitors and communications.

Despite these proposed conditions, which the defense described as “far more restrictive” than those in jail, prosecutors maintained that there are no conditions that can sufficiently reduce the risk of Combs tampering with witnesses or influencing potential jurors. Combs has pleaded not guilty to charges that he coerced and abused women over several years with the help of associates and employees, using methods such as blackmail, violence, kidnapping, and arson.

His trial is scheduled to begin on May 5, 2025).
