Rescue crews are currently searching for three-year-old Zaid Abdullah, who went missing at Erindale Park in Mississauga during a family gathering on Thursday evening.

Zaid was last spotted at around 6:20 p.m. near a playground in the park. His parents, Mohammad and Eslam Abdullah, reported that while they were preoccupied for just a moment, Zaid disappeared from sight.

Officials from Peel Police and Mississauga Fire and Emergency Services have been conducting extensive searches around the park and the nearby Credit River, where concerns have been raised that Zaid may have fallen in.

Described as a vulnerable child, Zaid is possibly non-verbal and has a thin build, standing about three feet tall. He was last seen wearing a yellow top with red writing, black pants, and was barefoot.

Eslam, Zaid’s mother, expressed her fears that he might have lost his way or wandered towards the river. She and her husband, who arrived in Canada just two months ago, are desperately hoping for any news about their son.

The community has been asked to keep an eye out for Zaid and think like a small child, considering places like bushes where he might hide. Police are working tirelessly, with additional resources deployed to aid in the search.

As the search continues, both local residents and emergency responders remain on high alert, hoping to reunite Zaid with his anxious family.
