Seattle Sounders Face Minnesota United in Crucial Playoff Match

SEATTLE, WA – The Seattle Sounders will host Minnesota United on Monday at 7:45 p.m. PT in a Best-of-Three First Round match of the MLS Cup Playoffs. The game will take place at Lumen Field.

The playoff format dictates that each First Round game must have a winner, meaning there will be no ties or aggregate scoring. If the match is tied at the end of regulation, it will go directly to penalty kicks. The first team to win two games in this series will advance to the Conference Semifinals, where playoff rules shift to a single-elimination format.

In the first match, held last Monday at Allianz Field in St. Paul, Minnesota, the Sounders and Loons ended in a scoreless draw. Minnesota triumphed in the penalty shootout 3-2.

The stakes are high for Seattle as they need a win to stay alive in the playoffs. A victory for Minnesota would secure their spot in the Conference Semifinals.
