Sen. John Fetterman Hospitalized After Fall During Morning Walk
Washington, D.C. — Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania was hospitalized Thursday after falling near his home in Braddock during an early morning walk, his spokesperson announced.
The senator reported feeling light-headed prior to the fall, which was attributed to a flare-up of ventricular fibrillation, a type of irregular heartbeat. After the fall, he sustained minor injuries to his face.
According to his spokesperson, Fetterman was transported to a Pittsburgh hospital out of caution. Upon evaluation, doctors confirmed the ventricular fibrillation flare-up as the cause of his light-headedness.
Fetterman, 53, is currently doing well and is under routine observation at the hospital. He has chosen to stay for further adjustments to his medication regimen. “If you thought my face looked bad before, wait until you see it now!” he humorously remarked.
He expressed gratitude toward the EMTs, doctors, and nurses who are caring for him. Fetterman has previously opened up about his health struggles, including a stroke he suffered during his 2022 Senate campaign.
Earlier this week, Fetterman shared insights about his mental health journey, which has been a significant part of his life since his stroke. He emphasized the importance of support from loved ones, stating, “Whoever is in your life, they need you.”
This is a developing story, and updates will follow as more information becomes available.
