Lakewood Police Department Shooting Incident

LAKEWOOD, Wash. — Seven people were injured in a shooting at Harry Todd Park on Wednesday evening, according to the Lakewood Police Department.

The shooting occurred around 8 p.m., near American Lake, police officials reported. Five of the victims were found at the park, while two others sought treatment at local hospitals by private vehicles.

West Pierce Fire & Rescue confirmed that multiple victims were transported to area hospitals. Three of the victims are in critical condition, the department stated.

A witness named Jayde, who was at the park during the incident, shared her experience with KING 5. “We were really scared and we had a baby with us,” she said. “There were multiple families trying to duck their kids and hide behind trees.”

Jayde described the chaos when the gunfire erupted, stating, “Next thing you know, you hear everybody screaming, crying, parents saying, ‘Where’s my kids?’” She recounted how she ran to get a phone when she saw someone fall to the ground, bleeding.

As of now, police have not disclosed what led up to the shooting, nor have they made any arrests in connection with the incident. This is a developing story, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
