Montana Wyoming Snowstorm Weather Warning

Billings, Montana — Residents in parts of Montana and Wyoming are preparing for a severe snowstorm expected to bring as much as three feet of snow. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued winter storm warnings for several regions, including the Absaroka-Beartooth Mountains, where conditions are forecast to be hazardous.

The NWS alerts indicate that from Sunday through Monday evening, travel will be challenging due to heavy snowfall and high winds, with gusts reaching up to 35 mph. Snow levels across the affected areas will vary, predicting accumulations between six to twelve inches in some places, while higher elevations could see up to 36 inches.

“Travel could be hazardous on US-14. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency,” warned the NWS. The agency also indicated that heavy, wet snow could lead to downed trees and power outages.

The warning covers several mountain ranges, including the Pryor, Bighorn, and Crazy Mountains. The NWS emphasized that recreational activities in these high country areas could be disrupted due to significant snowfall.

In additional updates, the NWS stated that conditions may deteriorate further as another storm system approaches the area early next week. Residents are urged to stay informed and monitor updates as the weather evolves.
