Mid South Storms Weather Forecast

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A Level 3 out of 5 threat for severe storms has been issued for the Mid-South this weekend, particularly on Sunday evening. Meanwhile, Friday kicks off with a cool start featuring passing clouds and expected afternoon temperatures nearing 80 degrees.

The National Weather Service is predicting a 10% chance of rain today, with winds gusting up to 15 mph. The forecast indicates a transition to cooler weather as rain rolls in Saturday, with highs expected to reach the low 70s accompanied by possible thunderstorms.

“We’re anticipating significant weather changes starting Saturday evening with widespread rain before the storms ramp up late Sunday,” said a weather spokesperson. “Make sure to stay updated as conditions develop.”

Local forecasts suggest that after Saturday’s rain subsides, the Southeast will experience a warm-up before a strong storm front passes through late Sunday. Highs on Sunday are expected again to approach 80 degrees, with isolated strong to severe storms occurring mainly in the evening hours.

As we move into the early week, conditions are expected to stabilize with a mix of sun and clouds on Monday, slightly cooler temperatures reaching the 60s, and a chance of light rain. The warm weather returns on Tuesday with similar highs in the low 70s and a continued risk of intermittent showers and storms through midweek.

In Memphis, local weather details for the upcoming days include:

Friday: Sunrise at 6:52 a.m. CT. Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers. Highs near 80 degrees. Winds will be from the south at 5-15 mph.

Saturday: Cloudy with showers and storms possible in the afternoon. Highs in the low 70s.

Sunday: Increased likelihood of showers and thunderstorms. The greatest risk is for strong to severe storms late in the day. Highs near 80 degrees.

Monday: Mostly sunny with a slight chance of rain, cooler temperatures expected in the 60s.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny and warm, with highs again reaching the low 70s.
