Northeast Ohio Severe Weather Storm

CLEVELAND — Severe thunderstorms are anticipated to roll across Northeast Ohio on Wednesday evening, bringing with them the risk of damaging winds and heavy rainfall.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for several counties, including Cuyahoga and Lorain. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for the area until 10 p.m. Winds could gust up to 80 mph, accompanied by damaging hail.

Trumbull County has also been placed under a flood advisory until 7:15 p.m. due to heavy rains. Meteorologist Katie McGraw with News 5 advises residents to stay vigilant as storms approach from the west.

“The greatest threat is focused on the western part of the region, particularly in Indiana and western Ohio, where storms are currently moving through,” she said. “All areas should remain alert, as the storms could still pose risks eastward.”

The timing indicates that the first strong storms are expected to arrive by early evening. Residents should be prepared from 7 p.m. until midnight, with the highest risks concentrated between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m., moving from west to east.

Officials urge those in the potential path of the storm to monitor weather updates and avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather conditions. Stay tuned for updates on News 5 at 5, 6, 7, and 11 p.m. to get the latest information.
