Tornado Damage Tennessee Valley

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Severe storms rolled through the Tennessee Valley on Tuesday, causing extensive damage in north Alabama and Tennessee. Reports of tornado activity have flooded in, with the National Weather Service confirming a tornado sighting near Jackson, Tennessee.

Robert Ray, a FOX Weather correspondent, reported from Nashville as storms continued their assault for the seventh consecutive day. Many areas remain under Tornado Warnings, affecting nearly 60 million people in the central and southern United States, including major cities like Nashville and Huntsville.

Video footage captured near the airport in Jackson showed a tornado ripping the roof off a factory. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the immediate aftermath, and troopers were on patrol assessing the damage shortly after the tornado passed.

Other tornado sightings have been confirmed near Springfield, Illinois, where officials instructed employees inside the state capitol to seek shelter in lower levels. As the storm approached, a staffer described hearing emergency alerts urging people to stay away from windows. As of now, there are no reports of damage or injuries from that area.

The severe weather prompted Tornado Watches to be issued across ten states on Tuesday afternoon. Up until now, Kentucky has experienced devastating storms, and officials remain cautious as more severe weather approaches.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear warned that radio alerts would experience outages due to a scheduled system update, leaving residents to rely on alternative methods for timely warnings. The storms marked a continuation of a relentless severe weather pattern that began the previous week, leading to widespread damage across multiple states.

Residents in affected areas are advised to stay alert for further warnings as the threat of severe weather persists into the evening. There are expectations for calmer weather after these storms subside on Tuesday night, with minimal risks projected for the rest of the week.
